Outdoor Magic

Despite the overcast skies and intermittent rain, a huge crowd gathered early Saturday morning for the “Grant to Plant: $3333.33 Plant Give Away” at the Natural Gardener down on Old Bee Caves Road in District 8.  Artists Patrick Bresnan and Ivete Lucas brought attention to the new district and its council member Ellen Troxclair, by not only creating the attraction of giving away plants in one of Austin’s most iconic home-grown businesses, but by working with fellow artists Hannah Kenah, Jacob Branson, and Yamel Thompson to engage visitors and capture conversations about the district, their thoughts on issues in Austin, and how visitors from the area would like to give voice to their concerns for the city.  The evening ended with a magical music performance, by Slings and Arrows, there on the porch of the Natural Gardener as the rain misted all around, and a full day of community engagement came to an enchanted end.
